In the mid-Edo Period, the region of Tashiro (present Tosu City), which borders between the prefectures of Saga and Fukuoka on the island of Kyushu, was an enclave of the Tsushima Domain. It prospered, being strategically situated at the branching point of traffic to and from the main roads of Satsuma and Nagasaki. Many people were involved in production and distribution of drugs for household delivery. The region, famous as the home of the “Tashiro drug distributors,” holds deep roots in pharmaceuticals. Oishikoseido is native to this region. Our first business was the production and distribution of Asahi Mankinko, a poultice consisting of rubbing ointment pasted on Japanese paper, in 1907. Throughout our extensive history of almost one hundred years, we have always been energetic like a constantly growing tree, promoting health of the people by offering reliable pharmaceutical products. Today, we hope to further enhance our social value, and continue to blossom with inspiration.
